Hello
I'm Bat-hen Shahar
I am a mother of two girls, a wife and a psychologist.
My passion is the relationship between adults and children, Specifically, children's relationship with their parents and their teachers.
As you can see from my work experience and my academic publications, working with parents and teachers towards the goal of supporting children's emotional development is my favourite part of being a psychologist, and a researcher.
That is also my main motivation to create SAGOL.

My Experience
As a psychologist specialising in education, I have worked with children and young people, alongside families and schools, on a variety of emotional, social and academic issues.
* These include assessing children's learning and emotional needs, by observing and consulting with multi-agency teams to advise on the best approaches to support learning and development.
* I specialise in behavioural problems and emotional regulation difficulties.
* In schools, I worked alongside the headteachers and the emotional support team (such as SEN) to help the school in its mission of supporting children with learning difficulties or communication needs.

As a researcher I've studied the impact adults have on children through the eyes of Self-Determination Theory which represents a broad framework for the study of human motivation and personality. More specifically, we studied the importance of needs supportive environment in the development of children (in school and in their relationship with their parents).
